Novra expects sales to double

Winnipeg digital transmission solution provider Novra Technologies believes it is on the verge of exponential growth.

At the company's annual general meeting in Winnipeg yesterday, a small group of shareholders and staff heard that Novra has promising developments at hand on several fronts.

Company CEO Harris Liontas said several sales opportunities are coming to fruition.

"What I think is most important is not so much the volume of sales, but who is buying our products," he said.

In the last month alone, Novra has announced sales or distribution agreement with the large satellite company, Loral Skynet, the U.S. National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Association and a high-end Japanese systems integrator, Rikei Corporation.

Liontas said the collapse of the technology sector has helped a company like Novra get noticed. "When business was booming many service providers were automatically using suppliers like Nortel or Cisco because the thinking was, no one got fired buying Nortel products," he said. "But now that business has slowed down they have more time to investigate products from small companies like Novra."

That's one of the reasons Novra officials believe it will double last year's $1 million in sales.

Novra stocks trade on the Toronto Venture Exchange and closed unchanged at 15 cents yesterday.
